The Effect of Antibacterial and Waterproof Coating Prepared From Hexadecyltrimethoxysilane and Nano-Titanium Dioxide on Wood Properties

As one of the most sustainable resources, wood has been widely used in fields construction, decoration, flooring and furniture. However, micron-scale porous structure makes it have strong moisture absorption capacity is susceptible to bacterial adhesion. In order expand its utility more applications products, necessary make a certain antibacterial waterproof properties. This study demonstrates method using hexadecyltrimethoxysilane nano-titanium dioxide prepare coating apply surfaces. Studies shown that this kind coated with an excellent properties (antibacterial rate as high 99%) addition, does not cause major change color wood, at same time increase tensile strength hardness extent. The above-mentioned provide new idea for preparation coatings.
